Top ten list in sarcoidosis.

چکیده
The increase in our knowledge of the immune mechanisms leading to the formation of the sarcoid granuloma unfortunately has not resolved the key question dealing with the etiologic agent(s) causing the disease. In this article, many genomes of Propionibacterium acnes or Propionibacterium granulosum were detected in specimens from 15 lymph node biopsies from 15 patients with sarcoidosis by using a quantitative polymerase chain reaction assay. The data suggest an etiologic link between propionibacteria and some cases of sarcoidosis. In particular, it is proposed that sarcoidosis may arise from a Th1 immune response to one or more antigens of propionibacteria in an individual with a hereditary or acquired abnormality of the immune system. Indeed, even if it is known that P acnes is a strong adjuvant, causing granulomas when injected experimentally into sensitized rats and rabbits, further experimental data are needed to draw definite conclusions about the pathogenetic role of propionibacteria in sarcoidosis. بررسی جهش ژن BTNL2 در بیماران مبتلا به سارکوئیدوز پوستی
Background and Aim: Sarcoidosis is a non-caseous granulomatous disease that can involve several organs such as lung, kidney, liver, heart and skin. In systemic sarcoidosis, skin lesions occur in 20-35% of patients. Cutaneous sarcoidosis with no systemic involvement was found in about 25% of patients. Mutation within Butyrophilin-like 2 (BTNL2) gene, rs2076530 was reported in systemic sarcoidosi...

متن کاملCryptococcus and Coccidioides in Sarcoidosis
To the Editor—We read with great interest Kuberski and Yourison’s hypothesis that Coccidioides spp. and other dimorphic fungi may be the precipitants of sarcoidosis in a proportion of cases [1]. We would like to suggest additional ways to test this hypothesis, as well as suggesting that Cryptococcus spp. be included in the list of fungi considered possible precipitants. A single-center study of...
متن کاملThe small fiber neuropathy screening list: Construction and cross-validation in sarcoidosis.
BACKGROUND Small fiber neuropathy (SFN) appears to be relatively common in sarcoidosis patients. However, there is no golden standard to establish SFN and diagnostic tests for SFN are not widely available. There is a need for an easy to administer SFN screening instrument for clinical assessment, research or therapeutic trials. The aim of the present study was to develop a screening list to ide...
